Back in the 1970s and 80s, there wasn’t much Star Trek to turn over and pick apart — probably just the 79 episodes of The Original Series, because The Animated Series didn’t capture the imagination in quite the same way. At the time, Trekkies came up with a hypothesis that 30% of the episodes are truly great, 40% are good or simply solid, while the remaining 30% are bad.
The goal of Trek Marry Kill is to test this hypothesis.
30-40-30: A Star Trek Podcast is not a good title for a podcast, though, and the same is true if we followed the order of the percentage breakdown and called it Marry Trek Kill. So, we’re Trek Marry Kill, but keep in mind that MARRY is the best.
Bryan thinks this hypothesis was, if not devised by, then promulgated by Trek historian Marc Cushman.
